1731. DRDO offers 28 indigenous weapon systems to armed forces for emergency procurement
- On June 23, 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) offered 28 indigenously developed weapon systems to the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force for emergency procurement, following the successful performance of DRDO-made weapons during Operation Sindoor, India’s military retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack.
- The weapons list submitted to the Defence Ministry includes air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, Pinaka rockets, Nag missiles, Rudram anti-radiation missiles, torpedoes, 155 mm artillery ammunition, Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAAW), Glide Bombs, and VSHORAD, with vendors like Bharat Dynamics Ltd and Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd identified for immediate production.
- Under emergency procurement powers, the forces can acquire hardware worth up to ₹300 crore per item and have been given the option to procure these 28 systems including 14 for the Army, 8 for the Navy, and 6 for the Air Force within 6 months to 1 year, marking DRDO’s largest and fastest offer yet, even more substantial than during the China border conflict.
1732. Rs 550 crore projects launched in Odisha's Ganjam
- On June 23, 2025, Odisha Chief Minister laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹550 crore during a state-level youth convention (Yuva Shakti Samavesh) in Aska, Ganjam district, marking the first anniversary of the BJP government.
- The CM announced a world-class ITI in Polasara, emphasized youth empowerment, and highlighted Odisha’s vision to become a $500 billion economy by 2036 and $1.5 trillion by 2047, leveraging its 1.7 crore-strong youth (age group 15-35) as a demographic strength.
- Under the Utkarsh Odisha programme, the state attracted ₹17 lakh crore capital investment, aiming to generate 13 lakh jobs, of which ₹1.80 lakh crore projects have already begun (creating 1.10 lakh jobs). Additionally, 28,346 government jobs have been provided within a year, and vocational training is ongoing in 58 colleges to boost global employability of Odisha’s youth.
1733. Modi Govt Opens 1 Million Sq Km For Oil & Gas Exploration, Eyes Major Energy Boost
- The central government has opened up a previously restricted 1 million sq km area of India’s sedimentary basin for hydrocarbon exploration to boost domestic production and reduce import dependence. Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas said on 22 June 2025.
- The New Exploration and Licensing Policy (NELP) has been replaced by the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP). Under OALP X, 25 blocks across 13 sedimentary basins are up for grabs, covering nearly 1.92 lakh sq km.
- The minister had earlier said that the Indian hydrocarbon sector is entering a new era of accelerated exploration and development through investor-friendly reforms, swift approvals, scientific exploration, and a strong emphasis on sustainability.
1734. KSEB Cleared to Procure 500 MW Power Under SHAKTI Scheme
- On June 23, 2025, Kerala State Electricity Board has received regulatory approval to procure 500 MW of solar power under the Central government's SHAKTI scheme, arranged through Solar Energy Corporation of India.
- The agreement includes 250 MW dedicated for peak hour supply, helping KSEB manage evening electricity demand more effectively and align with renewable purchase obligations.
- The long term 25 year power purchase agreement has been secured at a competitive rate of ₹3.41 to 3.42 per kWh, with additional regulatory allowances aimed at cost optimization.
1735. Nitish Kumar inaugurates Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur Bridge in Patna in presence of several ministers
- In a major infrastructural development for Bihar, Chief Minister inaugurated the much-awaited six-lane Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur Bridge on 23 June 2025.
- The inauguration marks the completion of the first phase of a project envisioned a decade ago to link previously isolated regions like Diyara Jalla directly with Patna.
- Constructed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL), the Rs 4,988 crore project links the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane road on NH-30 at Sabalpur to NH-103 between Chak Sikandar and Ghazipur Chowk in Samastipur district, via Raghopur and Bidupur in Vaishali.

1736. Amit Shah Lays Foundation of NFSU, CFSL in Raipur
- On 22 June 2025, Union Home Minister of India, laid the foundation stone for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Nava Raipur, marking it a "historic day" for Chhattisgarh, as hailed by CM Vishnu Deo Sai.
- The NFSU and CFSL facilities are being established with a combined investment of Rs 2.68 billion, including Rs 1.45 billion for the NFSU campus and Rs 1.23 billion for CFSL.
- Minister highlighted that an NFSU degree guarantees employment and will aid in enhancing both educational and employment prospects in the state. He also inaugurated i-HUB to support start-ups and MSMEs in Chhattisgarh, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
1737. DRDO develops 5.56x45 mm CQB carbine in partnership with private sector firm
- On June 23, 2025, DRDO 5.56×45 mm close quarter battle carbine developed by ARDE in collaboration with Bharat Forge has emerged as the lowest bidder in the Indian Army’s tender for over 4 lakh carbines marking a significant win for domestic defense technology.
- L1 selection strengthens India’s drive for “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” as the indigenous weapon aligns with the Army’s long standing need for a compact, modern close combat system, potentially replacing older 9 mm carbines.
- It is one of the biggest defense deals for a locally designed weapon, boosting Bharat Forge’s Kalyani Strategic Systems and solidifying public private partnerships in defense production.
1738. Sikkim’s agricultural exports reached a new milestone with the shipment of a 300 kg consignment of dehydrated Dalle Chillies to Solomon Islands
- On June 22, 2025, Sikkim marked a second milestone in agricultural exports with a 300 kg consignment of dehydrated Dalle Chillies sent to the Solomon Islands, following the first shipment of 15,000 kg on March 24, 2024, as reported by NE India Broadcast.
- The consignment, flagged off from Melli, South Sikkim by Mevedir, was overseen by officials, including Horticulture Secretary Tilak Gazmer and Principal Director B.L. Dahal, who noted that 5 kg of fresh Dalle Chilli yields 1 kg dehydrated, boosting farmer incomes.
- Dalle Chilli, a GI-tagged product since 2020, is promoted by the Chief Minister and a few other Ministers for its global demand, with the Prime Minister also praising its significance.

1739. Govt Launches Start-Up Challenge to Boost Rooftop Solar and Renewable Innovations
- On June 21, 2025, The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy launched a ₹2.3crore Start Up Challenge aimed at accelerating rooftop solar and distributed renewable energy solutions across India.
- The challenge seeks breakthrough ideas in four crucial domains affordability, resilience, inclusivity and environmental sustainability, targeting accessible, robust and eco-friendly energy solutions.
- Startups can compete for cash prizes ranging from ₹1 crore for the top entry to ₹5 lakh consolation prizes, alongside incubation, pilot scale implementation and mentorship.
1740. Coffee exports up 125 pc to USD 1.8 billion in last 11 years: Govt data
- On June 22, 2025, the country's coffee exports have jumped about 125 per cent to USD 1.8 billion in the last 11 years on account of a series of measures taken by the Coffee Board of India, according to the central government data.
- The exports stood at over USD 800 million in 2014-15. It was USD 1.28 billion in 2023-24 and USD 1.14 billion in 2022-23, the data showed.
- Europe remains the top destination for the country's coffee exports. The major countries which import the commodity from India include Italy, Germany, Belgium, Middle East nations, Korea, and Japan.
